FAQs
-
While friends and family can offer support, therapists are mental health professionals who have studied human behaviors and have received clinical training to conduct therapy. Therapists listen to you differently. We hear what you are saying, but at the same time, we are processing what you are sharing, we're actively connecting the dots to other experiences you've shared, and then offer research-based plans and tasks to help you get on track.
-
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.
-
Each therapist conducts their first session differently. Typically therapists will go over the formalities like intake paperwork and cancellation policy. Usually, the first session and a couple of sessions after are used to discuss what brought the client to therapy, establish therapy goals, and what the client hopes to get out of therapy.
-
Each client case will be different. The length of time in therapy to accomplish your goals depends on several factors, like one's desire for change and their commitment to the process.
-
To begin, weekly sessions are recommended. Once you start meeting some or all of your therapy goals, bi-weekly sessions may be suggested.
-
For therapy to be effective, confidentiality is needed in order to build trust between the client and therapist. Confidentiality provides a space for the client to share exactly what they are going through.
-
No. We are out-of-network providers. However, your plan may reimburse you if you have out-of-network coverage.
-
We are mental health providers, not medical providers. Because of this, we cannot prescribe medication. However, if you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, your first step would be to contact a psychiatrist or your primary care physician.

Therapy is a highly vulnerable process and can be the first step to change. This is understandingly daunting. We recommend scheduling a 20-minute consultation with us. The consultation can provide you with the space to share your concerns before beginning your therapy process.
-
Resistance to therapy is normal and common at the start of couples therapy. Sometimes clients may perceive couples therapy as a place where they will be blamed or villainized, or change will not occur. Therapists are trained to keep a balanced stance and to work diligently to understand each partner’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior. We recommend that you encourage your partner to attend a free 20-minute consultation to address their initial concerns and to interact with the therapist.
-
Absolutely! We value creating and maintaining love and nurture in all relationships. We are looking forward to helping you and your partners to achieve this.
-
Similar to individual and couples therapy, sex therapy is talk-based psychotherapy designed to address medical, psychological, personal, or relational factors preventing sexual satisfaction.
-
Client-therapist touching, showing genitals, and having an active sexual relationship with the therapist are not involved in sex therapy. Sex therapy is a form of talk-based psychotherapy.
-
Absolutely! Sex therapy is for anyone who wants to improve their relationship with sexuality, partnered or unpartnered.
-
This depends on your goal for therapy. Having a 20-minute consultation and starting the therapy process can help determine what's best for your treatment.
